The Welsh
phrase 'Pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad',translated in to English from Welsh, means;'True
am I to my country!.'The words are taken from the Welsh National Anthem;'Mae Hen
wlad Fy Nhadau,' which translated into English, means ;'The Land of my Fathers.'
This was written in 1856 by James James and Evan James,of Pontypridd, the full
words of which can be found at this site:
http://www.aber.ac.uk/media/Functions/anthem.html
It is,perhaps,most
frequently seen on the reverse of the Welsh edition of the British,£1
(One Pound) coin.
